<HTML>U-1406--Anybody got anything on the ultimate fate of this one? I believe she was taken in port at war\'s end and shipped over to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Kittery, Maine) in the fall of 1945; she was made seaworthy and underwent trials (never commissioned), then either scuttled or scrapped. (Tough to get info at PNSY after 9/11). And while we\'re on the subject, how about the fate of the midget sub (may have been a Seehund) that was a fixture in front of the PNSY gym until 1955? Buried in the landfill which joins Seavey\'s and Clark\'s Islands at the Yard or scuttled out near the Isles of Shoals? With one WW I sub (U-111) and seven from WW II known scuttled off the Mass.-N.H. coast, these two could be nine and ten. Quite a collection out there...</HTML>
