I am aware of the various forum posts about U-534, but a recent thread about its loss on the RAF Commands forum (http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?24317-U534-the-cartoon-U-Boat) prompts me to ask if there is any online account of the vessel's loss on 5 May 1945 which describes the action as seen by the U-boat's crew. The information I'm particularly seeking is:
1. On 5 May Großadmiral Dönitz ordered all U-boats to cease offensive operations and return to their bases. Is the time that the order was signalled to German vessels known and was it received by U-534.
2. Is there any record of the RAF Liberator making the first attack (during which it was shot down) attempting to seek the surrender of U-534 and the two accompanying U-boats before it started its attack?
3. What was the destination of the three U-boats?
