<HTML>Innes,
Excellent idea! How would you propose running an op like that? Where based? Duration at sea? Etc. It sounds like a golden opportunity!
MPC,
Tut tut! I will have you know - o ye of little faith - that having served on tugs (in the MN) one of my duties was cooking. It is of absolutely little importance that - rounding the Mull of Kintyre in a force 8 gale on a 159 ton ex London Port Authority tug - I managed to scatter the main meal everywhere and we had to have corned beef butties until we made Campletown. I was never asked to be cook again, which suited me fine. If God had meant a deck rating to be a cook I'd have been born with a tin opener in my hand and a suspect sexuality!!! (Quiet at the bloody back!)
Sea legs? Mike, you'd get sick for 24 - 36 hours - usual clammy headache, upset stomach and probably a short spat of projectile vomiting ( and not to do with my, or anyone else's, cooking ) and then you'd be okay. Bit of fresh air, a nice spot away from the exhaust fumes and Robert is your father's brother!
Seriously, what an opportunity! I write ( allegedly anyway ) and what with a decent photographer, just a week with Innes and on the hunt would be enough material to flog to Diver, National Geographic, Reader's Digest - without even looking at Warships IFR, Ships Monthly, Sea Breezes et al. The potential is staggering!
A trip on a boat, good company, hands on research and the hance to write about it? More details Innes please!
