<HTML>The only U-boat I knew that was ever fired upon in Great Lakes water was the WWI UC-97 by the USS Wilmette (the ill-fated ex-passenger steamer Eastland) in a training exercise in the 1920's I believe. The closest I know a U-Boat got up the St. Lawrence was around the town of Rimouski. Where's Nathan Greenfield???. He's writing an article/book on the subject....
