<HTML>Minor point. "Yankee" predates the War of Northern Aggression by quite a long time, though it did become a compound word at that time. It was commonly used as a derogatory term by the British forces during the American Revolution, hence "Yankee Doodle." The story is that it started out as "John Cheese," as rendered by the Dutch population of New York, though I have no idea what THAT was supposed to mean, but the term was around from Colonial times.

I can, of course, see the problem with the dog's name from modern perceptions.
