<HTML>I can't speak about the Clyde but a U-boat penetrated the Firth of Forth on May 8th 1945-only hours before the European war ended and sank two merchant ships off the May Island at the mouth of the River Forth-the Norwegian freighter Sneland and the Canadian registered Avondale Park, both of which had sailed from South Sheilds, Northumberalnd a short time before.
The U-Boat was (I think) the U-3232 and her Captain stayed out in the North Sea until May 11th when he surrendered at Dundee, Scotland harbour.
I beleive these two sinkingin the early hours of may 8th 1945 off the May Island were the last U-boat kills made in Europe in WW2..</HTML>
