When u 534 was sunk there were 5 men left in the front torpedoroom, the
rest of the crew had abbandonned the boat.
One of them were torpedomecanic Egon Mosler, a man with high expeari-
ence.He overfload a torpedotupe and later opend a valve on the inner torpedodoor
so the water slowly filled up the room. this was nessecary to make the same
pressure in the room as outside the boat, otherwise it would never be possible
to open the torpedoloadinghatch wihitch they entend to escape thrue.
But everything went o.k. The men were ready with livesaving equipment on
(tauchretter) and wen the room was nealy full they opend and left the boat.
All the 5 crewmembers reachd the surface but the 18 year old radiooperator
Josef Neudorfer dies shortly after. Some says because his lungs were blowen
out, because using a wrong teknik going up from the boat.
When u 534 was located in 1989 the debth to top of the cunning tower was
54 m.</HTML>
