The German for Torpedo Boot actually was a small destroyer or frigate size. The Schnellboot or S-Boot was a PTBoat, but the British called them E-Boats. They were a little bigger than the American or British versions, round bilged vs. hard chine, thus a little slower in top speed. However, they were much better seaboats and could go flat out in the typical channel chop, whereas the others had to slow down inorder not to break the boat or people aboard.
