<HTML>I am new to this forum and wish to do some searching. I wrote the following letter to Ms. Allen.....and I was hoping some of you out there on this forum could help me with information...perhaps an annual meeting of the remaining Uboat commanders...

>Hello Tonya...
>
>My name is Patrick Lane and I\'m a Captain on the Boeing 737 for American
Airlines here in Chicago. Prior to this, I was in the US Air Force as a
KC-135 Aircraft Commander.
>
>In the past 12 months or so, I have found a very strong and keen interest
in the German
>U-boats and found your website which I visit weekly. In fact, I\'m still
learning all the site has to offer in the way of information etc.
>
>In an odd way, after watching Das Boot and reading Iron Coffins, I feel a
strong sense of comraderie among those of us who \"commanded\" during our
military careers. I think this is where my great interest lies with the
German U-boat Commanders.
>
>Tonya, the reason I write is to find out....how would I go about trying to
locate some or even one of these commanders from these boats?Does your
archive have this information? For example, I have read that the author of
\"Iron Coffins\", Herbert Werner, is living in Florida. This information is
a year old I believe and may have changed.
>
>The reason I ask this question is that I would truly enjoy having a lunch,
a dinner or just coffee with these gentlemen and just listen to their
stories first hand. I certainly realize they are not young and most, I
would imagine, are still in Germany. I also realize there are privacy
concerns which I completely understand and respect. This is why I ask for
your assistance just to possibly get me headed in the right direction or
put me in contact with an office to start this journey of mine.
>
>Thank you for taking time to read my email. Anything you may think of
would be greatly appreciated! I anxiously await your reply, Tonya.
>
>Sincerely yours,
>
>
>Patrick Lane
>B737 Captain
>American Airlines
>Chicago, IL
>
>PS...Just today, I learned of a \"U-Boat Veterans Administration\" in
Munich. Do you know anything about this or perhaps have an address?
>

Ms. Allen mentioned this Forum among many other avenues for which I\'m grateful. I was hoping to ask any of you if you know of possibly any reunions (I\'ve heard the U-505 has its reunion in Chicago on 4 June each year...those who are still around) or any contacts I may get in touch with to fulfill my desire to chat with a Uboat Commander.

Thanks for reading this and if you would rather, please feel free to email me privately at Capt737aa@msn.com

Thanks.
