I think I need to do the same thing. The last time I saw U-505 was back when I was a kid and we took the Aquarama from Cleveland to Detroit, looked over all of Henry Ford's old houses, railroad engines, and cars, and then drove back with a stop in Chicago. At the time I vaguely remember thinking the coal mine was the neatest part of the museum. I'm not even sure just when that was, other than probably some time in the late 1950s (the ship went out of service in 1962, anyway, and last I heard was tied up in Buffalo waiting interminably to be converted into a casino). I remember we drove back in the Dodge, so it had to be before 1961.

The old Aquarama (ex. SS. Marine Star) is probably deserving of conservation herself, but the conversion as a cruise ship probably removed most of the historic value as a WWII troop ship. Interesting looking vessel, though. See: [continuouswave.com]
