Still curious - that is good. Re your questions: Don\'t forget the German 212 is roughly 1/5th the size of the Astute, Seawolf and the newer Virginia class nukes. Size to a certain extend dictates shape.
Actually , I think, imagining these nukes without their sail (Conning Tower - of old), they look more like blimps than the 212. Rgds, RB
