<HTML>Hello, We great respect, I am compiling a visual and written record of all the U-boat crews \"war graves\" located in the US and Canada. All this began about 20 years ago, when I discovered a lone grave in the \"island cememtary\" in Newport RI. It was the grave of Gunther Hedder, a machinist mate from U-550. That U-boat was sunk thousands of miles from Newport, yet this young German sailor\'s body washed ashore there during the war and was buried. I have been in a search to \"somehow\" let his family know the exsistence of his grave to no avail.

Also in this same cememtary are the graves of seaman from the U-853. If you have any information on the whereabout of German sailor\'s war graves in the cemetaries along the eastern seaboard, please contact me. thanks</HTML>
