<HTML>Here is some more info on the Blink:

D/S Blink NS * K. Th. Einersen, Oslo 2701 gt

Built in Bristol 1920. Previous name: Arlette until 1933. Captain Sigvart Ulvestad. Left Charleston on February 9-1941 for Halifax, loaded with phosphate for Ipswich. Was hit by 3 torpedoes from U-108 (Scholtz) on Febr. 11 at 35 00N 72 27W, just east of Cape Hatteras. The first one went straight through the ship without detonating, the next two hit in the middle of the ship in the engine room. 5 men were assumed dead, 23 got in a lifeboat, while 2 were seen to lower a raft, never to be seen again. The lifeboat kept turning over and 1 man drowned. By the 13th 11 men were left, the others had gone insane and had died, the captain was gone. On the 14th only 6 were left. That same day they were observed by D/S Monroe in position 33 34N 71 41W and rescued. All of them were hospitalized in Baltimore.

Regards.

Jon
