<HTML>Well done Dietzsch! Could not have put it better myself, however, maybe MPC has the \"van\" confused with \"von\" in German. In German a name with \"von\" does designate a person as noble, or being from noble ancestors (all you German contributors, let me know if I\'m wrong here). This coincidentally was the reason Queen Beatrix was able to marry Prins Claus, who\'s full name is Claus von Amsberg of German parents. He was of noble blood and so he was eligible for marriage. Holland has strong ties with Germany in this way as Prins Bernhardt was also German and a card carrying member of the SS before the war. This little known fact remains relatively unknown to many Dutch people. I have investigated this somewhat but I don\'t think it is a good idea to share more on this forum as it stems away from the u-boat subject.
Anyway, well done Dietzsch, thanks for the post!
A fellow Dutchmen,
Fin Bonset
(My ancestors were Heugenots escaping the revolution in France, but my other family names of Eikendal and Doorman are very Dutch!)
