I think that I was just so incensed about the way the flaming was going I felt I had to do something!

George Duffy only did what many men did during WW2. His story is a historical document in its own right and whether you side with him or not, it stands as something we should all read and learn from. Stalin also had his story to tell as did Hitler....Tito....Hirohito - it doesn\'t matter who - each individual story makes for an understanding. That is the key to ensuring history lives. Without people like George and his accounts of it from his persepective we would have nothing but the \'doctored\' and very much sanitised view.

I was also really angry because, somewhere else down the forum, I read someone saying \'all the vets stick together\' and that really got me mad!

So what if I am a vet? I did my time, I paid the dues I had to pay and that was it. I am absolutely proud to have gone and to have served my country. I will always be proud of having done my duty as well as I could -

- and if anyone wants to challenge that, then so be it. Hey, but get your facts right first!

All I will end on, Fin, is a sincere thankyou. This forum is for all - apolitical, down the middle - and those who make value judgements need to look closer to home than at throwing abuse.

Let\'s hope it stops and we get back to some excellent posts.
