German U-Boat losses off of US in WWI

<HTML>there has been much written and excelllent records showing where German U-boats were sunk off the of the US coast in WWII, but I haven\'t been able to find anything equivalent about losses off the US Coast in WWI. My high school girlfirend\'s parents (many years ago!) had photos from vacations to Hatteras in the late 50s early 60s showing s sunken submarine that surfaced just off shore peridocially on a sandbar, but from what I can tell it doesn\'t map to any WWII German losses (whcih were at minimu 17 miles or more off shore). So I\'m wondering if it was a WWI boat - and for that matter, where were WWI Uboat losses off the US coast - if any.

Thanks,
Craig</HTML>
