<HTML>Dear Rainer,
Since this is now an official u-boat posting regarding beer and herring, allow me to respond to your comments about Dutch beer :-)
Dutch beer is good if you know where to go. I agree, the area around Schevening and \"Noord Holland\" does not have many good beers, but a day walking along Scheveningen, eating some herring and some \"patat friet\" with some real mayonaisse out of a \"puntzak\", and then proceeding to the pub for a game of billiards and a cold Amstel on tap while watching Ajax beat the crap out of Feyenoord is the best thing known to me while in Holland. It\'s not the beer that makes the experience :-)
For good Dutch beers, you have to go south. Any local brewery in Limburg or Breda is equal to or better than any Belgian or German beer. I personally do not like Czech beer. Pilsner Urquell (spelling) is alright on tap though.
With regards to u-boats, I bet many a u-boat man enjoyed the good beers and food while they were in Holland!
So there! :-)
Best wishes,
Fin
P.S. To MPC, English Ales are the best! Old Speckled Hen is my favorite.</HTML>
