<HTML>The issue with an attack on the Lexington was that she was a Pacific-based ship. While she may have been in the Atlantic some (mainly Caribbean) for annual exercises, that not where she would usually be found. She was also not one of the ship transferred to the Atlantic to beef up the USN presence therein 1941 (USS Yorktown, the three New Mexico class battleships, several modern light cruisers, etc.) In short, I find it a bit implausible.</HTML>
