<HTML>No, not really. Size, speed and armament depends on the theatre and the circumstances the boats have to operate in. The American boats had to operate far from their base, so they carried large amounts of torpedoes and fuels to make get the maximum yield from their patrols. The Germans built submarines that could operate in the Atlantic, closer to base, so fuel and armament was less of a concern. The boats were however designed to suit the Wolfpack-tactics, with agility and speed. </HTML>
