<HTML>All,
This is what starts flame wars. Flame wars are not nice things to be in - witness the derogatory and inarticulate war of words against myself a few pages back on here.
I see by the last message - the one above mine - that we might be going this way again, which is a shame. Instead of wasting times on negative expressions we should have our say - and be done.
There have been some informed replies to George Duffy\'s useage of the term \'Jap\'. In terms of education, it is something I never knew. Likewise, ther term \'nigger\' which came from the River Nigeria and thus Nigeria. I know from my own experience that there are many black people who hate this term. Why? Because Nigeria was one of the slave capitals and thus the term is derogatory because it labels those who are called it as slaves.
Those who dislike George\'s use of this term have - by and large - had their say. Those who supported him had theirs too.
My own view? George is of an age when being \'politically correct\' didn\'t matter. We should allow him that and make our feelings known.
Yet as for flaming him for what he has done - that is bang out of order and should be stopped. Those capable of decrying a man his history show no respect nor acknowledgement for his small part in the war that allowed all of us here the right to free speech.
Let\'s stop it now. Subject done. Finished.
Aye,
