Sinkings performed by U-166,CO Hans-Günther Kuhlmann:

11 July 1942 Dominican Republican Sailing Vessel CARMEN, 84 tons
sunk by gunfire in 19*43´N-70*12´W.

At 16:10 on 13 July US Steam Freighter ONEIDA, 2309 tons built in 1920,
hit & sunk by torp in 20*17´N-74*06´W.

At 09:00 on 16 July US Steam Trawler GERTRUDE, 16 tons
sunk by gunfire in 23*32´N-82*00´W.

At 22:30 on 30 July US Steam Freighter ROBERT E LEE, 5184 tons built in 1924,
sunk by torp in 28*40´N-88*42´W.

On the night of 24-25 July 1942 U-166 laid a mine barrage consisting of 9 mines
in the Mississippi Passes,wich remained undiscovered during the war.

On 1 Aug 1942 U-166 is sunk off the Passes of the Mississippi,
by a Coast Guard J4F plane of US Coast Guard Sqdn 212
based at Houma,Lousiana;and piloted by Ensign Henry C White, USCG.
