<HTML>Some original Iron Crosses were indeed made in non-ferrous materials because of rusting and the danger of electrical shortcircuits. Hans Goebeler (U-505) said their personalized boat cap insignias (an ax) were also made of aluminum because of the same concerns. However, the point about ASDIC detection is bizarre and ridiculous. By the way, non ferrous EKs are being reproduced, so beware of any dealer that suddenly floods the market with them.</HTML>
