that character has been marginally portrayed at least on the movie “Fräulein Doktor “ (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0064350) and in the fiction he hangs himself to escape capture.
Maybe his ghost is still around in Scapa Flow, along with the ones of the Royal Oak crew (Did anybody survived the torpedoing?).
Perhaps the British intelligence still keeps secret the result of its inquiry, but I am inclined to belive that Prien got first class information for preparing his famous action as knowledge of tides and obstacles position where essential for success.
