The incidents in that others Officiers took the place of the commander were not summarized to the cases of the
U 505 Oblt. Paul Meyer
U 441 Marinestabsarzt Paul Pfaffinger
but more some as by example:

U 921 [Oblt. Wolfgang Leu]. 1. WO Oblt. Hans-Joachim Neumann. Made one aborted war patrol 8 days, took command of the boat and return after the boat commander was missing during attack by Canadian aircraft. Wounded and Hospitalised in Naval Hospital of Drontheim

U 637 [Kptlt. Wolfgang Riekeberg] Leitender Ingenieur Oblt. Ing. Klaus Weber During the last war patrol The boat it was attacked by two Norwegian Motor Torpedo Boats, The CO and and seven crew members killed. The Oblt. Weber assumed the command and return to Ackrehaven

U 214 [Kptlt. Günther Reeder] 1.WO Oblt. Rupprecht Stock Made one aborted patrol 6 days, took temporary command of the boat and was forced to return to the Brest, because CO Kptlt. Günther Reeder was injured after a air attack by aircraft from RAF causing damages to the boat.
