Hi, Howard !
Don is right 100 % , and I've found in my library some interesting details...
U-123 was a IX B Type, and I've no technical data about fuel tanks available
with me.But , for VII Type, there is a reference book , "Anatomy of the ship, The Type VII U-Boat",written by David Westwood, Conway Maritime Press, available with Abebooks if you're interested, but not really cheap.Anyway, figures as follows :
1) Type VII B, Max fuel qty : 108,35 tons, Normal qty : 99,7 tons including 57,3 tons within pressure hull.
2) Type VII C, Max : 113,5,Normal : 105,3,Internal : 62,1.
3) Type VII D, Max : 169,4,Normal : 155,2, Internal : 115,3
Hope this may help.
Good evening.
Jean-Noël
