It is simply a matter of no one wanting to have her. The French do not, I am sure. The Germans have studiously stayed away from such efforts for fear of criticism for honoring its past. The Americans have their fine speciman in U505. The British will not upkeep the one that they have displayed for years.
In a previous thread, we discussed U123 and were pleased that it survived the war, served again, and escaped the scrappers. I don't know if any other boat could say the same.
