I assume your "DF mast" is the support element for a DF (Direction Finding) antenna.
The term mast means a vertical element (an antenna pole or tripod), and DF is shorthand for direction finding.
Normally, a horizontal antenna element rotates atop the mast, and allows one to locate a radio signal by seeking the peak signal strength direction.
