U-534 mystery?

I've decided to depict U-534 IXC and have a question that is puzzling me:

It states she was sunk by an RAF Liberator near Denmark on 5 May, 1945, yet she was apparently with the 33rd Flotilla at the time, which was based in Penang, Malaya. What was she doing near Denmark?
