Hello PatW and JNM,
thanks for your responses and if may please point out as to the subject matter that Erich Topp starts his biography Odyssey of a Uboat -Commander by trying to explain to the reader this tragedy from his point of view, printing Guthry`s song full length and that the hellish sceneries when his torpedoes hit were haunting him to his days. Also very moving in this book, when he recalled being invited to the navel vessel of a brother of one the American officers killed in the attack.
He drew a lot of fire by some of his former colleges he way he composed his book.
You all have a nice day.
Sincerely Yours
VEK
