Hello Io and the "rest of the gang",
well dear Lady we all know you are the ultimate expert concerning personal and other inquires of U 96 on this forum, be that LWB or Fritz Grade for that matter. Also we all know your German is fantastic as to which I had the honor to experience. Concerning the former I believe you would be able to answer Paul`s question if you wanted to without him having to take a "u-turn" via a German friend. And since you seem to be in contact with Fritz Grade, it might made a lot easier for Paul to get the expert response he is looking for. Of course that is only my humble way to look at this subject matter. "Warum nicht einfach wenn es auch kompliziert geht". I mean you know it all don`t you.
Now on the other hand your suggestion has merits in so far, Prof. Grade would be contacted by a Gentleman he might have been at odds with some sixty years ago, of course not personally but as to circumstances of these days, "mal zeigen, wo Bartels den Most holt".
Now , Paul, since this exhibition about DAS BOOT is going on in Bonn and I`ll go there definitely, if I may I offer you to meet in Bonn and then I`ll be happy to serve you as a translator and you and I might manage to go to Bornheim as our Lady Io suggest where Fritz Grade is living right now.
As a matter of fact if any of you Ladies and Gentlemen somehow will get into Bonn for this exhibition just let me know and I´ll try to meet you there.
You all have a nice day.
Sincerely Yours
VEK
