Hi Larry,
Believe what you want. I have no doubt that German agents tried to influence the Cuban government as they did most governments. However they were not from a U-boat – that is completely laughable – a fantasy. As for the official records, Showell’s book is based on them – there are no records of U-boat men coming ashore in Cuba during the war simply because it never happened. The Irish landings are in the book because they actually happened. The fact that there is nothing about Cuban landings should tell you something all by itself. Check out the myths section of this site [www.uboat.net] for some of the other common U-boat myths. This subject has been discussed to death on this forum.
There is always someone who is completely ignorant about how U-boats operated and how they were used that is willing to believe these myths though, no matter how many times they are told that they are simply not true.
Come back when you can tell us exactly which U-boat it was. We will be glad to hear all about it then.
