Hi Michele,

As far as I can remember Wolfgang Lüth was survived by his wife and children and I believe that one of his daughters was living in the UK during the 1960's(?)

According to one author (perhaps Harald Busch) he was a good officer and was well liked and respected by his men. His attitude was to the effect - "You only have to care for them and they will do their best for you".
Although some have said that he was an ardent Nazi he was, nonetheless, a very professional naval officer and a brave and successful U-boat commander.
(A real U-boat commander and not a Karl von Schenk - btw did you sort everything out to your satisfaction on that subject??)
