Hi Sid,
Between 18 August and 4 November 1942 U-459 refuelled U-68/U-159/U-172 and U-504 600 miles south of St. Helena. The correct latitude but still 2000 miles approx. off Rio de Janeiro.
Between 19 November 1942 and 3 January 1943 U-461 refuelled out going boats U-126/U-128/U-134/U-159/U-161/U-174/U-176 and returning boats U-154/U-163/U-172
just north of St. Paul's Rocks.
As far as I can establish U-461 was therefore the closest milch cow refuelling off Brazil
