I'm researching Camp Ruston, the POW camp that held the U-505 crew. Although I know a great deal about the camp, I have lots of U-boat questions. Let me start with this one. Any help is appreciated.
Helmut Gugger was supposedly a Swiss national who ended up on a U-boat crew. He was part of the infamous escape of 25 U-boat prisoners at Papago Park, Arizona. Once he 'cooperated' with authorities after his capture, he was transferred to Camp Ruston. I've checked all the online crew lists I can find but no mention of which U-boat he served on. I need to document his U-boat and find anything else I can on him. So far, the book "The Faustball Tunnel" is the only mention I've found of him.
Thanks
