I believe that one of the small IJN submarines that tried to penetrate Pear Harbour to finish off the USN vessels ran aground and was captured. It should be on exhibition in a Naval Academy somewhere in the USA.
The USN Phoenix (heavy cruiser) was one of the few unscathed ships in that action. She met is fate during the Falkland-Malvinas war. There is a cold joke about this: the British sub \"Conqueror\" hit her with a very updated torpedo worth 1,2 millions of dollars. The poor \"Admiral Belgrano\" (=Phoenix) was worth, considering the steel quotation, 500.000 dollars, maybe less. Thereafter this tragedy (more than 400 cadets dead) was cynically reported as follows: \"Argentine cruiser sinks British torpedo\".
