Kapitänleutnant Heinz Hirsacker
Taking his own life after one of its few friends from crew 34 smuggleed Heinz Hirsacker a pistol into the prison shortly before his scheduled execution.
He had been charged with "Cowardice in the face of the enemy" Paragraphs § 84 and 85 of the German Military Criminal Code and condemned by court martial for cowardice during the time of command of the U 572.
The only U-boat commander to suffer that fate.
Oberleutnant zur See Oskar-Heinz Kusch
Condemned to death by a court martial in Kiel under the accusation of "Defeatism and sedition" during the time of command of U 154, was executed by a firing squad in Kiel-Holtenau after Admiral Dönitz had rejected a pardon.
Cheers, Fernando
