He Everyone,
First post here to tell you that I'm looking forward to participating here in the future.
My whole life revolved around avaition until my flying career was medically ended in 1995. I wanted to get as far away from that area as I could and I picked up a copy of "Operation Drumbeat". From then on, I was "hooked" on U-Boats! My personal library now has 40+ books on U-Boats and U-Boat related topics!
I am lucky enough to travel a lot and when I do, I seek out used book stores where I have found some incredible, old U-Boat books and many have never been published in the States, so I probably have a few rare books as well. I walked into a new book store in Auckland, New Zealand in 1998 to find a book entitled "U-Boat Far From Home, The Epic Voyage of U-862 to Australia and New Zealand", by David Stevens. It was from this book that I learned just how FAR the U-Boats worked and also about the Indonesia U-Boat bases..... A very good book!
I have visited the U-505 on several occasions and have also been aboard a Russian sub (in Seattle), a US sub and recently a Royal Austrailian Navy sub at a wonderful museum in Sydney.......
Looking forward to being active here.............
