There seem to be only two sources referring to the German plan, Gimpel's own book (originally published as "Spion für Deutschland" by Süddeutscher Verlag, and Ladislas Farago's "The Game of the Foxes: The Untold Story of German Espionage in the United States and Great Britain During World War II"; my copy was published by David McKay Co. (1971). Gimpel/Farago refer to that project either as "Unternehmen Pelikan" or "Projekt 14" (the latter evidently included several similar schemes).
