As you see in [www.u-boote-online.de] Bigalk trained as observer from Oct 1935 up to Sep 1936 [beobachterausbildung (See) an der Fleiegrschule (See) Parow]
In the same period (almost)( 01.10.35-30.09.36 as you wrote) Hardegen trained as an observer and as a pilot !!!

Is that possible?

If you check [aufhimmelzuhause.com] this Luftwaffe Hauptmann trained almost 4 years to obtain his wings [23.06.39 Flugzeugführerabzeichen (Pilots Badge)]

There is a possibility Hardegen only be trained as an observer ?
