I'm surprised that with such relatively modest successes that so much energy was put into this program. Even if every unaccounted for sinking was attributed to the midget sub program, would the overall tally have made it worthwhile?

I've scanned through the book section, but can anyone recommend a good book on this subject? I'm also curious as to what extent Kampfschwimmer operations would have crossed paths with the midget subs.
