Maurice,
The offical report from Chief Officer Hugh Thompson confirms that an elderly man died in his lifeboat on Thursday Feb 16 1940 approximately 5 miles (8 Kilometres) from Loophead, Co Clare, Ireland. He was buried at sea.
He mentions that the cause of death was "Exposure".
He also said that he had been in the water before getting in to the lifeboat and was wet all over when they picked him up.
If you look at a map of Ireland you will see "Loophead" on the west side.
Loophead is a lovely peninsula of land in County Clare with the Atlantic ocean on one side and the Shannon river on the other side.
I believe it would be appropriate to consider Loophead, County Clare, Ireland as the final resting place for your Great-Grandfather Salvador Pulis aged 62 years.
You can see pictures of Loophead at www.loopheadclare.com
Yours sincerely,
Pat O'Brien
