Hello All
I have an acquaintance who lives in Wilhelmshaven and is friendly with the younger brother of Julius Von Bonin who was an officer on U-1107.
It has made me curious as to whether there has been any update to the following:-

"Sunk 30 April, 1945 in the Bay of Biscay west of Brest, in position 48.00N, 06.30W, by retro bombs from an American Catalina aircraft (VP-63/R). 37 dead, unknown number of survivors. (Axel Niestlé, April 1991)."

Why the reference to unknown survivors?
The crew listed on "uboatwaffe" contains these two names, lost five days before the sinking.

Gauls Leonhard OBtsMt(Omasch?) 11.10.1916 25.04.1945 U-1107+ unknown Cause
Meiss Franz MechGfr 01.11.1922 25.04.1945 U-1107+ unknown Cause
Any help please?
Regards
Nobby
