<HTML> Hi Mike,
I have replied to Chris direct. Emilie will happily translate anything into French for those who do not speak English well, or feel that they would prefer to hear it in French. That means, of course, she\'s coming....
I will also - have also - volunteered to write a draft for circulation to the museum on U-534. I think that was the agreement. If Chris is right about it, it\'s not a problem. I will run it via anyone interested to edit - including Gummi - and will also make quite sure the site web address is mentioned.
>>Oh an instruction to a matlot from a G.I.<<
Like \'You\'re better off in the Navy, son?\'
>>\\\\\\\"To carry out this movement correctly, as taught by numbers, dwelling a pause of two marching paces between each movement...... In this manner......\\\\\\\"<<
Nah! It was more like...\' You bloody Ops branch lot! God in his heaven forgive me teaching you the arcane and secret art of small arms gunnery....\'
>>HMS Excellent - Yes and Tipnor Range - got the T-shirt as well :-)) but......
what was the Kriegsmarine equivelant and what phrases did their G.I.\\\\\\\'s use ?<<
I am sure someone will tell us, Mike!
GI = Gunnery Instructor, BTW for those who don\'t know any different. Usually Seniors - as in Chief Petty Officers - whose normal domicile was ( and probably still is ) known as Menopause Manor....
Have fun, mate!
Aye,
John
