Tom:
Hiram Cassedy was my late father's 1st cousin, both having been born and raised in Brookhaven, Mississippi. I might have additional information for you via my brother Jimmy. Jimmy is 84 years old and lives in Springfield, Virginia. He too is a Navy veteran having served as a pharmacist's mate on an LST on D-Day. He then was 17. His ship was blown up on D-Day plus 5 by a mine.
I spoke with him today concerning plans for a fishing trip. He mentioned that someone from Australia had contacted him recently concerning Hiram (possibly you?). He has several scrap books that our father kept. In one is a photo of Hiram and other information. I don't know exactly what he has. If you are interested, please e-mail me at michael.cassedy@montgomerycountymd.gov. Jimmy doesn't use e-mail.
I stumbled across your message while looking up info on Hiram.
Best regards, Mike
