And yes, you are being a curmudgeon. Finding a submarine wreck even if we know what happened to the boat is a significant achievement. Those "known" positions are not always accurate and the positions listed in published works may not be correct. I know divers that have spent years looking for such "known" U-boat wrecks before they finally found it (examples: WWI U 12, UC 42, WWII U 1206).
