This boat sailed 23.12.39 on a mining mission, on route she met and sank the A/S trawler HMS Barbara Robertson by gunfire, she then came across two battleships and a destroyer escort, taking aim at the Battle ship HMS Barham, she hit her with one torpedo, which caused damage, but did not stop her and she went on to be repaired only to be lost in more tragic circumstances later. My question is, how many torpedoes did U30 carry, I have one account that she had two as it was not a front line war patrol, but having not used any on the Barbara Robertson, why did Lemp only use one on such a vital target? John
