Thankyou for the reply, should, this time at sea be classed as a war patrol, I have noticed in 'Wynn's' book he as her down as being on seven patrols, but most were between one and three day 'voyages' between ports in Germany and Norway, for whatever reason, but the one I have mentioned he as stated it possibly being an operational patrol. Going through the other U-boat records listed in this site, there are numerous boats with both patrol days at sea plus days at sea overall. What criteria is needed for a boat to have 'the days at sea overall' added the its sailing record?. Should this voyage, seeing she was prepared for a war patrol, and if she had encountered an enemy submarine engaged it, not be recorded in either patrol or overall days at or both?. Regards john
