Hi,
According to the bio page on this site Scholtz underwent a mere four months training before being given command of U-108. Presumably this was his normal u-boat training course and final instruction phase at Bremen when the boat was in the last stages of readiness. However, how unusual was this process in terms of not providing a novice Kaleun with at least a learning experiene as a W.O aboard another boat? How many other men transferred from positions of commands to commanders of u-boats without a basic intermediary step aboard other boats? (Round figures will do.)
Thanks in advance
Adam
