Hi,

I have done some research some time ago and I think, that first operational
U-Boat equipped with Schnorchel was U264 (December 1943), but first U-Boat
which sailed with Schnorchel was U539 (2nd January, 1944). There was accident
on U264 during Schnorchel trails, which caused delay, and about one month
after U539 she sailed out.
The experimental Schnorchel was installed on U57 and U58 in August 1943.
According tho uboat.net, U596 was also fitted with Schnorchel, but when?
I have got no clue, but if I had guess, I would tell it was done before
her last patrol.
