<HTML>I wonder if anybody could assist with the following:
1. The Type IXD2\'s stowed extra torpedoes on deck and reloaded while on patrol. Were they simply lashed down or was there a special place on deck where they were stowed. Does anybody have a picture of one of these boats with the torpedoes on deck?.(177, 178, 179,181)
2. One of the Alcoa Pathfinder\'s survivors (sunk by U-181 off Mozambique in November 1942) noted that they were questioned by Luth and that the boat displayed a large H47 on the conning tower. I have looked in U-boat Emblems by Hogel and am unable to find this series of letters/numbers. Anybody know?
Love this site.
